SERP CTR Calculator

Estimate clicks at your current Google position and compare them with a target position at the same impression volume.

Positions 1–20. Uses an editable-plan benchmark, not your actual Search Console CTR.

Formula and curve

Position benchmark × impressions

The calculator maps positions 1–20 to a median CTR curve, then multiplies that rate by monthly impressions. Position 1 uses 27.6%, position 3 uses 10.2%, position 5 uses 5.9%, and position 10 uses 1.8%.

Expected clicks = monthly impressions × benchmark CTR

Worked example

With 10,000 monthly impressions, position 5 models 590 clicks and position 3 models 1,020—a difference of 430 clicks without assuming more search demand.

Limitations

Actual CTR varies by brand familiarity, device, query intent, snippet quality, ads, maps, rich results, and other SERP features. Use your Search Console CTR whenever enough first-party data exists; use this curve for scenarios and gap-finding.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my Search Console CTR different?

The curve is a broad median. SERP features, brand demand, device mix, intent, and snippet quality can move your result far above or below it.

Can I use search volume instead of impressions?

Yes for a rough keyword scenario, but Search Console impressions are better for an existing page because they reflect its real visibility.

Make the snippet earn its share of clicks.
